OUR HISTORY
Econo Transmission, Inc. was established in 1980 by Wilbur Hales. With
dedication, determination and the know how, Wilbur built a transmission shop
that is well known in the area for its integrity. In 1994 Wilbur retired from
Econo Transmission, Inc. Darryl Keels who had worked by his side for seven
years stepped in as owner, of Econo Transmission. Since that time, Darryl has
carried on, with the same integrity the company was built on.

OUR STAFF
Sir Winston of
Wellington, better known as Rusty. He is our official greeter. Rusty is a
six year old Chocolate Lab., who takes his job very seriously. You can usually
find him laying in the office or trailing behind his dad (Darryl). As owner
& operator of Econo Transmission, Darryl performs many task. You might find
him in the back of the shop rebuilding transmissions, out front diagnosing
vehicles, or in the office helping a customer. If you come around lunch, you
might find Darryl standing over the grill cooking. Darryl, and his wife Tracey,
enjoy going to NASCAR races and spending time with family and friends.
Calvin Strawter has been in the transmission industry for
thirteen years, eight of those years have been here, at Econo Transmission.
Calvin removes and replaces transmissions, clutches, axles and much more. He
was born in Tifton, Georgia and moved to Wilmington in 1988. Calvin and his
wife Linda enjoy traveling and are very Active in their church.
Mike Goodell has been building transmissions since 1979. He was born in
Lorain, Ohio, and with his wife Ellen moved to Wilmington in 1995. Mike has
been here at Econo for two and a half years. He has twenty-four years
experience in rebuilding transmissions. He enjoys Nascar, Fishing and Golf.
Lesley Stearns will be the person on the other end when you
telephone Econo. She's our customer service representative and service writer.
Lesley takes care of the office, orders parts and watches after Rusty. She
makes everyone feel welcome and never meets a stranger. Lesley has three
daughters and a yellow lab named Daisy. She enjoys spending time with her girls
and socializing with friends. Her favorite place is the beach.
Scott
Williams has been in the Transmission business for 16 years. He has a great
personality and loves riding his Harley. When he's not riding his bike, you can
find him hunting and fishing. Scott is very dedicated to his trade.
Juan A. Izcoa has been an automotive Technician for 8 years. He has been
in the Transmission business for 2 years. He has lived most his life in Santa
Barbara, Honduras, and has lived here in the United States for 4 1/2 years.
Juan and his lovely companion (Carolina) have a beautiful daughter (Genesis).
He enjoys spending time with his family and playing soccer. Juan is a very
conscientious and knowledgeable technician he has been a great addition to our
Econo family |
